The Truth About Light Therapy for Acne

Are you frustrated with over-the-counter and prescription acne treatments that don't work? Well people like you are turning to blue light therapy for acne. But does it work? How can shining a blue light on your face make any difference? Are there any side effects? And what does it cost? This article will answer these questions so you can decide if light therapy is for you.

It's unbelievable but it's claimed that shining a blue light on your skin kills the bacteria that cause acne. And red light rejuvenates the skin. So a combination of blue and red is best for treating acne. Of course this isn't just any old blue or red light. It's finely tuned to very specific properties, including dose. And it's been evaluated and approved by the FDA. So it must work… right? Well it does to some extent.

There has been some scientific research that shows blue/red combination light therapy does work for some people. Studies show that on average, there's a 73% reduction in acne after 8 weeks of treatment rising to 82% reduction after 12 weeks. There's also anecdotal evidence that it works for some but not for others. This is normally only used for people with mild to moderate acne. Whether it works for you or not, there's one piece of really good news… there's absolutely no side effects.

That's right, not a single reported side effect. That's most unusual for an acne treatment. The light doesn't burn or irritate the skin, and there's no pain or discomfort either. Of course you do have to wear safety goggles to protect your eyes during treatment. There is one problem and that is the cost of treatment.

Professional treatment at a dermatologist typically costs $50 to $150 per session. Typically you might need one or two treatments a week, so the cost quickly mounts up. A cheaper way to go is to buy a home blue/red light box which can be as effective but needs daily use because of the lower power level. This will still set you back around $500. Unfortunately, there's no way of knowing if it will work for you until you try it.

So there you have it. If you have mild to moderate acne and other treatments haven't worked for you, you can give blue light acne a go. Just so long as you don't mind forking out some significant cash. But at least there are no adverse side effects to worry about. There are of course other alternatives with higher success rates and lower costs that you could try instead.

Caring For Sunburned Skin

We always look forward to summer. Summer always spells fun and countless activities under the sun. Summer is always full of beach activities, theme park escapades and a lot of frolicking in the sun. With all these activities, summer also spells sunburn. When there is excessive exposure to ultra-violet light, sunburn results. However even during cloudy days, you still get sunburn. The clouds do not shield us from the harmful ultra-violet light. If you love the sun, try to love your skin as well. It is essential to have a good skin care regimen; especially for people who are almost always exposed to the sun.

Probably almost everyone has experienced sunburn at least once in their lifetime. Sunburn is common and painful. However, this can be avoided with proper skin care and lesser exposure to the sun. Sunburn rarely brings complications, or any life threatening medical emergency, which requires a visit to the doctor. However, if there is severe pain or extensive blistering, a quick visit to the doctor may be beneficial. Blistering indicates second-degree burn. Your doctor can provide you better skin care treatment to alleviate the pain. The worst sunburn pain is often experienced between six and forty-eight hours after exposure to the sun. On the other hand, skin peeling of the injured layers often occurs between three and ten days after the burn. Furthermore, although this is rare, some people with sunburn may experience vision difficulty. If such is the case, an appointment with a physician may be deemed necessary.

Sunburn can be avoided by a minimized exposure to the sun. When exposure cannot be avoided, always provide yourself with good skin care products. These will protect your skin while being exposed to the sun. Arm yourself with good skin care routine before going out and exposing yourself to the ultra-violet light. Never leave the house without a good sunscreen protection. A good sunscreen should have an SPF or sun protection factor of 30 or greater and should be applied approximately 30 minutes before sun exposure. You can find these sunscreen products in the skin care section of your favorite stores. Wearing a wide brim hat will also protect you from the harmful rays of the sun. Studies show that dark colored fabrics offer more UV resistance than light colored fabrics. Today, there are specialty stores that already provide sun-protective clothing. They provide people better skin care by offering special types of fabrics in their product lines. However, these are rather expensive and are often beyond most average people's reach.

There are some home care remedies available to provide better skin care for people suffering from sunburn. A cool bath or cool compress may be beneficial using one cup of Aveeno to a tub full of water. Alternatively, you can also use one- half cup of ordinary baking soda into a tub full of water. Using lubricants such as Vaseline can also provide skin care. However, this type of lubricant retains heat and therefore should not be used during the first day of sunburn. Some people use benzocaine to relieve pain. However, this can cause skin irritation and may lengthen the course of healing. To ease the pain caused by sunburn, aspirin may be taken.

Finally, love your skin because this is your best protection against most external elements. Provide yourself better skin care protection by utilizing clinically approved skin care products and following good skin care routine.

Fight Hair Loss with the Herbal Natural Remedy - Provillus

Hair loss is a misfortune that happens to many men and women. It often occurs in aging or when the body is suffering from some type of deficiency. It can be embarrassing at first and cause a person to withdraw from friends or family until they regain confidence.

There are natural herbal supplements available for almost any need including natural weight loss products (i.e. Hoodia), natural supplements for helping high blood pressure, herbal cures for arthritis, and so forth. Fortunately, there are also natural ways to help your hair grow to be healthy and strong and to prevent hair loss. Many people are turning to Provillus, the herbal natural remedy for hair loss, and enjoying new strong hair once again.

Benefits of Provillus

Provillus offers many benefits to those who are plagued with hair loss. It has been tested and proven to bring better results than similar natural supplements or medications. Provillus consists of natural ingredients and is void of any harmful chemicals or substances. Also, it can be purchased without a prescription. No major side effects have been reported with Provillus.

Other benefits include quick results (usually within a few weeks), conveniently available online at discount prices, and it offers benefits for both men and women.

Provillus for Men and Women

Another major benefit of Provillus is it works well for both men and women, but in slightly different ways. For men, Provillus naturally blocks a male hormone called DHT (dihydrotestostrone). This hormone is the cause of hair loss in many cases because it causes the hair follicles to become finer and thinner over time until the hair is completely lost. While blocking DHT, Provillus is also supplementing the body with much-needed nutrients for growing healthy, strong hair.

Provillus is also available for women. Unfortunately, some women will begin to lose their hair after menopause. Many hair loss products are geared to help men only, but Provillus for women consists of a slightly different formula than the one for men. It supplies nutrition that gives life back to dead hair follicles. It also seeds the scalp to provide a proper growing environment for new, healthy hairs to grow.

Whether you want to grow new, strong hairs to cover up bald spots or start early to prevent baldness, Provillus can help! You can shop online for Provillus, find helpful herb information, and search for other natural health products or natural weight loss supplements. Enjoy gorgeous hair once again!

Acne Treatment - How To Treat Acne Mechanica?

Acne Mechanica is the name of the acne you may get when your skin is under pressure, is undergoing friction, is covered or is exposed to heat. Tight clothing that rubs against the skin, synthetic clothings that do not allow skin to breathe, pressure of backpacks, are some of the situations when acne mechanica may form.

Some other examples of pressure are- soldiers carrying heavy loads on the back, people carrying backpacks, athletes wearing a tight headband, women wearing bras with tight straps etc. Any such instance when the skin is tightly covered with cloth and pressurized makes it vulnerable. For example- people who wear very tight clothes made of synthetic material may get it.

Not everybody gets acne mechanica. Those who have a tendency to develop body acne may get it. Those with very small comedones may get it. When these small comedones are subjected to mechanical pressure and friction, they may flare up. Comedones are whiteheads and blackheads.

To avoid acne mechanica, wear loose fitting cotton clothing, avoid headbands, avoid constant pressure on the skin by any object and keep skin clean of perspiration. Wearing cotton clothes that breathe under your regular clothes can help. Washing yourself thoroughly after removing the irritating baggage/object can help. Keeping skin clean is a habit that can save you from acne mechanica. Take a thorough bath so that all the closed pores open again.

The treatment of acne mechanica is same as that for Acne Vulgaris. Some of the topical formulations that help treat contain- Benzoyl peroxide, Salicylic Acid, Resorcinol and Sulphur, Alcohol and Acetone, Azelaic Acid, Topical Antibiotics, Topical Retinoids and Nicotinamide.

Acne mechanica can be prevented by most of the people. Professionals, who cannot avoid such skin pressure, must take care of the skin immediately after getting free of their professional duties. Acne mechanica can cause skin scars. Protect yourself from it.

Organic Gardening - The Natural Way

Organic gardening is the practice of growing vegetables, flowers and other plants with the use of only natural materials and methods. No man made chemicals are used. Organic gardening is more that just the use of natural materials it has to do with understanding the balances in nature and applying those to our gardening and farming endeavors and work in harmony with nature. Organic gardening is growing in popularity.

Organic gardening includes:

a) Proper planning

b) Soil preparation

c) Fertilizing

d) Irrigation

e) Mulching

f) Pest and weed control

Organic gardening requires a solid plan. First of all, one must decide if the quantity of what we grow can be consumed and /or stored for future use. Also, a location must be picked. The location should be a well drained plot of land with water nearby. The plot should be close to home with plenty of sunlight.

The plot of land should be prepared a few weeks in advance since organic fertilizers and soil conditioners are slow in working. The soil must be tilled (broken up) and made ready to accept the fertilizer. Part of the preparation is testing the soil to determine what kinds of fertilizer must be applied. Testing is done using a soil probe to take samples of the soil. The samples should be sent to a professional testing lab for a determination of what the soil needs to make it fit to grow your crops.

Animal manures can be used as fertilizer. Cow horse or hog manure should be applied at 25 pounds per 100 square feet. Poultry and sheep manure should be applied at the ratio of 12 pounds per 100 square feet and rabbits and goat manure at 10-12 pounds per 100 square feet. These fertilizers can be broadcast over the area or put beside each row to plants. The fertilizer then must be worked into the soil.

Organic fertilizer such as composted plant materials may be used in place of animal fertilizer. Compost material should be applied at a ratio of 25 pounds per 100 square foot. More is better. Depending on the completeness of the material, that is, it has or has not all of the required minerals needed for the soil; other types of commercially available phosphates, lime and other micro-based nutrient compounds may be needed. These fertilizers should be applied as designated on the packages. All fertilizers should well worked into the soil.

After all fertilizers are worked into the soil, the plot should be leveled, raked, and made ready for planting.

Plants should be irrigated thoroughly once a week. Surface sprinkling is not enough. The soil surrounding the entire root ball should be watered. Drip or trickle irrigation can be used and will conserve water. Soil conditioners and fertilizers help to maintain moisture in the soil. Mulching works well also.

Mulch is any material, usually organic, that is placed around the plant on the surface of the soil. Common mulch materials include leaves, lawn clippings, sawdust and pine needles. Mulch provides several benefits. It conserves soil moisture and nutrients and reduces soil erosion and weed growth. It also moderates soil temperature and reduces fruit loss.

Weeds are controlled through the use of cultivation. The weeds should be removed when they are small. Hoeing cuts out the weeds and does not harm roots. A thick mulch which keeps out light will also control weed growth.

Control of pests in organic gardening can be very difficult during times when infestations are high. However, there are various methods open to organic gardeners. These methods include utilizing varieties of resistant plants, friendly insects, mulching, organic insecticides, insecticide soaps and insect traps.

Organic gardening uses natural materials and methods to perform the basic gardening functions: planning, plot selection, preparation including soil testing, fertilizing, irrigation, mulching, and pest and weed control.

Organic gardening offers the benefit of keeping harmful chemicals away from the food we eat. Doing away with the chemicals also makes our environment safer. Other benefits can be cost savings over contemporary gardening and the satisfaction achieved from doing our part in cleaning up our environment.

Anti Aging Skin Care

As we age, our skin begins to show the signs of time. All of a sudden normal facial muscle movement such as smiling, chewing and squinting become enemies. Not to mention that gravity and years of sun exposure (for those hard core sun bathers) reflect an image you may no longer recognize. In essence aging skin is caused by the fact that underlying tissues that keep our skin looking youthful and plumped up during our teens, twenties, thirties and forties begin to break down. Once the signs of time start to manifest themselves we quickly start seeing laugh lines, smile lines, crow's feet or facial creases over the areas where repetitive muscle movement occur.

Until recently, signs of aging were synonymous with wisdom, experience, character and sage advice. In other words, aging meant getting better at figuring life. Today, we still want to get better at figuring life as we age, we simply don't want to look like we're older on the outside than we are on the inside.

It seems we are more determined now than ever in history to sip, drink and gulp the elixirs or potions of eternal youth. Did you know that men and women living in western countries spend several billions (yes, billion with a "b") of dollars each year on anti aging skin care products and treatments that promise to tighten the skin, smooth out wrinkles, lighten age spots, remove excess fat, eradicate cellulite, tuck tummies and erase 20 years off of our smiles.

Looking 10 years younger no longer means going under the knife because there are so many other options that can make you feel great with a minimum amount of pain. Another bonus to these new procedures – the cost is far more affordable than plastic surgery.

Are you looking to find out more about treatments that change the cellular metabolism of your skin and that can combat fine facial wrinkles and blotches from sun damage? Acne Treatment - Birth Control Pills

Birth Control Pills are used to treat acne in women. They are very effective in controlling and treating acne. They treat acne by reducing the production of sebum considerably. To understand how they do it, let us first find out more about sebum.

Sebum is produced by sebaceous glands. These glands are found on most parts of the body. Except few, most sebaceous glands open into a hair follicle. When sebum production increases the gland gets blocked and the sebum begins filling the gland like a balloon. Bacteria P. acnes infect this gland and inflamed acne is formed. If sebum production can be reduced the formation of acne will not take place. Androgen hormones are responsible for excess sebum and birth control pills control the androgens and treat acne. Let us find out more.

Androgens are a group of hormones. Androgens are also called male hormones. These hormones are responsible for activity of the sebaceous gland. When androgens are in excess the glands produce more sebum and as a result more acne. That is why puberty is the time when acne flares up. In women acne may also flares up during menstruation and pregnancy. Use of birth control pills and other hormones is done to reduce the activity of androgen s to treat and control acne.

Oral contraceptives may be of two types. One contains only progestin. The other type contains progestin and estrogens. The estrogens may be in the form of ethinyl etradiol. This ethinyl etradiol controls the level of androgens and reduces acne.

Different types of progestins are used in the oral contraceptive pills. The type that reduces the level of androgens is best used to treat and control acne.

Oral contraceptives thus reduce the production of androgens. This reduces the effect of androgens on sebaceous glands and controls sebum production. The possibility of sebaceous glands getting blocked by sebum reduces considerably with this.

Heartburn - The Early Sign of Acid Reflux

The one universal sign of acid reflux that even a five-year-old recognizes is the burning sensation felt in the throat and chest after consuming oily or spicy food. A mere cheeseburger can cause this extreme, but universal sign of acid reflux.

That burning sensation so commonly experienced by diners is only one of the calling cards of acid reflux. Other symptoms sufferers may experience include such things as a consistent sore throat, bad breath or a bitter taste in the mouth. In spite of good mouth hygiene, they may exhibit yellow teeth. They may have acid regurgitation or a dry cough. Such symptoms are perhaps just as serious and uncomfortable as the persistent burning sensation that follows eating foods that trigger heartburn or regurgitation.

Heartburn is a common sign of acid reflux that is also experienced by heart or chest pain sufferers. Yet chest pain, the most significant sign of acid reflux, is the least understood indicator of this disease.

It is important that you learn to tell the difference between heartburn and heart-related chest pains. Many sufferers who experience chest pain rush to the hospital fearing they are having a heart attack. Fortunately, they often learn that is not the case. Yet, you should not take chest pain lightly. If your chest hurts, seek medical help right away, regardless of how many false alarms you have had in the past. Chest pain can indicate a life-threatening heart attack.

The name heartburn indicates the general area of the body where the pain is located. Heartburn can feel as though the pain is literally coming from your heart. The burn describes the feeling that, although the pain is centered in the chest, there are pains radiating or burning away from the center point.

The reason for this sign of acid reflux known as heartburn among acid reflux sufferers is that the acidity causing the heartburn occurs in the digestive tract that runs near the heart. Heart-related chest pain will increase with simple physical exertion, unrelated to eating. If you feel that your heart is about to burst, you are experiencing actual heart-related pain and are possibly having a heart attack. If that is the case, seek medical attention immediately. However, the heartburn associated with acid reflux increases and decreases primarily when you eat certain foods. For instance, oily foods will make a dramatic increase in heartburn for most sufferers.

Acne Skin Care Through Natural Herbs

Acne is an inflammatory skin disease that can occur in any age but mostly in the period of puberty. This skin problem originates from the root of the hair follicles where they are associated with sebaceous glands. Such structures are called as pilosebaceous glands. When the blood circulating in these glands is impure, then it causes eruptions on the surface of the skin. These eruptions are commonly called as pimples or zits.

What are the causes of acne?

• Improper or faulty diet

• More sexual desires in adolescence

• Deficiency of vitamin A

• Menstrual problems, such as irregular or delayed periods

What should be the diet to cure acne?

• Eat green leafy vegetables. This will provide the cellulose for roughage, which takes care of proper movement of bowels

• Avoid spicy and sugary food. Keep your diet a perfect balance of foods with different tastes.

• Include fresh fruits in your diet. This will build up proper water content in your body, which will make the blood purer.

• Do not eat fatty, deep fried, high sugar content food and milk products

• Drink 8-10 glasses of water daily

Do's and don't for acne

• Protect the affected area from harmful rays of sun and also don't wash your face frequently and keep your skin dry.

• Prefer using mild natural cleanser for skin cleaning to prevent acne growth.

• Try to expose your skin to fresh air and sunlight. This will help in opening the pores on the skin and lead to better circulation

• Avoid any type of stress. Stress can release more hormones, which would exacerbate the acne. Do those activities only which you like most.

Acne skin care through home recipes

• Prepare a paste of orange peels and apply on the affected area.

• Squeeze indian plum or jambola in water and this paste must be applied on the affected part. This is more effective in the pimples that appear in early youth.

• You can also prepare a mixture of nutmeg and red sandalwood in water. Apply this mixture on the face.

• Prepare a paste of either turmeric and neem leaves or turmeric and sandalwood paste also gives relief from acne

• You can also apply grated potatoes on affected area to get relief from acne pain and inflammation.

• Apply garlic paste on the affected area. It will help the acne to dry living no scars.

• You can also boil tulasi (holy basil) leaves on water. Cool it and apply on effected area with cotton, it is beneficial for acne treatment

How ayurveda helps in acne cure?

There are few herbs that are found to be beneficial in the treatment of acne. They are:

• Mint leaves (Pudina): The leaves of pudina have good cooling properties, and are commonly used as anti-inflammatory agent.

• Papaya: It has excellent properties for reducing pimples by direct application on them.

• Turmeric (Haldi): It is also commonly used for all skin ailments, including psoriasis

• Sandalwood (Chandan): It has also very cooling effects and its mild fragrance brings freshness to the affected part. It purifies the blood and prevents further outbreaks of acne.

• Aloe vera: It takes care of marks left behind by acne that have dried away. It restores the former sheen of the skin.

Acid Reflux - What Is It?

Acid reflux or Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is a bothersome and usually painful problem. Acid reflux is caused by acid and other materials that are in the stomach, which get backed up in the esophagus, the tube that goes from the stomach to the throat. The esophagus is made up of many muscles.

Damage to the esophagus from acid reflux is very common. This damage is due to the items from the stomach residing in the lower esophagus for a long amount of time. You may experience heartburn and nausea when this occurs. If the materials rise up higher into the esophagus, you could get them into your mouth. Your throat will burn from the acid and you may find small food pieces in your mouth that have not been digested.

Causes of Acid Reflux

The esophagus has a tight piece of muscle like a rim, called the esophageal sphincter. When you eat food, the esophageal sphincter should be strong enough to push the food down into the stomach. When the esophageal sphincter becomes too relaxed and it is not as strong as it should be, the food in the stomach comes back up through the esophagus, causing acid reflux. Hiatal hernias and a slow or weak esophagus can also trigger acid reflux. A weak or slow esophagus is just not able to get the food to the stomach on a schedule that is right for proper digestion.

Acid Reflux Treatment

If you have acid reflux, the first thing you need to change is your lifestyle. You need to learn how to control your acid reflux by eating smaller meals as well as losing any excess weight you have. If you smoke or drink alcohol, you will have to give those up too. You can prevent acid reflux by becoming more active and moving around for a few hours after meals. You may even try sleeping with an extra pillow to elevate your head above your stomach.

You may need to start using over the counter medication that is designed for the symptoms of acid reflux. These medications neutralize the acid amounts in your stomach, thus there is less acid to rise up. You can try such medications as Pepcid, Zantac, Mylanta and Tagamet. Pepcid and Zantac are known as histamine receptor antagonists.

If your symptoms of acid reflux get worse, you may need proton pump inhibitors such as Nexium and Prevacid prescribed by your doctor. These medications will stop the acid release into the stomach and the intestines. Another medication, Reglan, is a promotility agent and its function is to get the esophagus to function the way it should. Reglan forces the esophagus to speed up and empty faster so digestion can go at a healthy pace.

If you think you have acid reflux problems, contact your doctor about getting treatment. Your doctor can prescribe the proper treatment for your particular situation.

Herbal Remedies Used In Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy involves the use of aromatic herbal remedies for physical, emotional, and mental healing. Herbal remedies in the form of essential oils from herbs are distilled to produce soothing, healing aromas.

The essential oils used in aromatherapy are usually volatile. This means that the molecules in these herbal remedies evaporate quickly into the air. Every time when you inhale the aroma of an essential oil, the unique components mix and react with the olfactory membranes in your nose, which are directly connected to your brain. Of course, your brain plays a very important part in how your mind, emotions and entire body are regulated.

You may then think that aromatherapy is just the practice of sniffing different essential oils. However, that is not all that you can do with these oils. Most of these herbal remedies can also be applied onto your skin. When this is done often enough, it becomes doubly effective. This is because the essential oil is being absorbed directly into your bloodstream as well.

The cost of these essential oils can vary quite a lot. Prices vary depending on their availability and the methods that have to be used in order to procure and produce them. For instance 1 ounce of pure lavender oil can be procured for $5 because this is a fairly common plant and easily harvestable. Conversely, you may pay $250 for half an ounce of rose oil.

You are also going to need to purchase a diffuser in order to properly use these herbal remedies. This is a special device that is used to disperse the essential oils into the air. These are usually very inexpensive and, in most cases, an atomizer will work fine. There are also special aromatherapy pottery rings available that fit over the top of a light bulb and are relatively inexpensive as well.

The herbal remedies used in aromatherapy can be used to treat various health ailments. They can help to alleviate symptoms such as stress, depression, digestive problems, skin problems, hormone imbalances and respiratory problems. Most essential oils are quite potent; hence you would need to follow the instructions found on the label strictly. If you are pregnant or have some major illness or disease, you should also check with your doctor on the use of aromatherapy.

Finally, you should note that the one thing that you should not do is to apply essential oils directly to your skin without first diluting it. You also need to ensure that your skin is not sensitive to the herbal remedies that are being used.

Top 9 Causes Of A Flushing Face

1. Embarrassment

It's almost impossible to avoid flushing or blushing when we feel embarrassed.
Either when we least expect it or even worse when we do expect it.
When you next feel embarrassment try to remember that your face turning red is 99.9% common and the
only discomfort you will feel is the embarrassment itself and not the so called shame of a red face.

2. Exercise

How many people do you know who don't turn a different shade of pink from a vigorous work out? Whether it's running for
20 mins on a piece of gym equipment or making love - we all go red and suffer a flushing face during exertion.

3. Anxiety and Phobias

The triggers that cause anxiety or phobic reactions make us feel uncomfortable and stressed out. These feelings can
cause an increase in blood flow and pressure which ultimately results in the reddening of the face. If you can relate to
this then the only plausible solution is to tackle the underling psychological issues that cause such physical reactions.

4. The fear of blushing

Following on from point 3, the physical reactions from psychological triggers such as anxiety, phobias or stress can often self manifest.
This means that the mere fact that you become self conscious about your flushing then becomes a problem in itself. No longer
are you flushing because of the original cause, but you are now experiencing a "second tier" of flushing due to the fact that you
are anxious about the fact that you are flushing in the first place.

5. Frustration

Frustration is the distant relative of stress. As we know, stress can cause high blood pressure and as such, frustration can and often does cause
flushing. Even classic cartoon characters are given facial redness expressions to portray frustration.

6. Sadness

Often sadness and in its extremity, crying, can cause a higher volume of blood to rush to the face.

7. Happiness and laughter

Many people, when engaged in uncontrollable laughter, are prone to flushing of the face. The harder we laugh the less
in control we become and more importantly the less self aware we become. We let ourselves go and as laughter requires a great
deal of physical and energetic resource, we tend to flush as a result.

8. Menopause

One of the most common triggers of a flushing face is most certainly a flushing face. Many women suffer intensely from flushing and hot flashes.
There are many products and suggested solutions for menopause and the treatments for flushing are just a part of the market.

9. Hot n' spicy foods (and drink)

Although some people don't seem to flinch at a mouthful of chicken madras, the rest of us have to endure wild and fierce attacks of facial flushing at the first
sign of eastern european cuisine. It can become annoying to say the least. For some of you reading, it can be the difference between
going out and socializing and staying in with a mild Italian dish instead. It shouldn't be that way now should it?

As you can see, there are many causes of a flushing face. For some people, all of the points can seem familiar and for others,
it may just be one of these points that cause you problems. Further more, for some of you; there may be something more specific
that causes face flushing. Whatever it is, there is always a solution. The deciding factor is - can you determine what it is and ultimately
are you willing to do something right now to change your situation for the better? I did, you can too.

Treating Acne With Birth Control Pills?

Some people want to enjoy their intimacy of their life but one of the ways is to consume birth control pills. However, people believe that taking birth control pills will help to control acne. How far is this true? Women sure will think about this statement as if 'killing two birds with one stone' and fear of side effects surely comes into the mind.

Back in history, in 1997, Us Food and Drug Administration or FDA approved low dosage of birth control pills to treat acne patients. SO to those teenagers who are more prone to acne, birth control pills are the answer they are seeking. Dermatologist will recommend different kinds of creams, antibiotics and other medication but even birth control pills. Birth control pills can stabilize fluctuating hormone level in the person's body which causes acne. Thus, the usage of birth control pills is not only what it seems on the surface.

Acne usually develops at the teen period of our life and this is when our hormone levels begin to fluctuate. At this moment, our glands which are located under our skin near the hair follicle will begin to produce oils. Combination of oil and dead skin cells will form acne that is trapped in our skin pores.

Birth control pills are prescribed for mild to severe acne if other medications fail to do its part. Hormone that contained in birth control pills prevents can from forming on our skin. Most of the birth control pills work the same thus any of those pills will work the same way but the effectiveness of these pills will be quite long. It will take from several weeks to months for the effect to be obvious.

The decision making of taking birth control pills is very subjective to personal and also medical point of view. Thus, before making decision, get the facts right of the pro's and con's before proceeding. This may be important as some people might develop allergies to the medication or the sight effect of it. The side effects are vaginal bleeding, fluid retention, melasma and depression. However, the pills side effects not only stop at there, it also has some relations to heart attacks, strokes, blood clots and breast cancer. The leaves are alternate and are parted by 3 to 8 lobes. The plant bears male and female flowers separately. The fruit is oblong in appearance and if or green color. The skin is rough and is of barrel shape. In the fruit, seeds are present that are 15 to 25 in number. These are highly bitter in taste.

Uses

· Diabetes – it is world wide accepted fact that bitter melon is very effective in treating diabetes. Hence it is popularly known as plant protein globally. Chemically karela contains a compound that is very similar to that of insulin that is sometimes referred to as p-insulin. Researches have shown that when the extract of this p-insulin is given subcutaneously has been quite effective in substituting the insulin from the body. Hence is a good vegetable substitute for insulin. Karela has been an herb of choice to curb the blood sugar level in the body. It helps in stimulating pancreas to secrete insulin which other wise had been restricted. There has been about three such constituents that are really very effective in treating the raised sugar levels in the blood. These include steroidal saponins called charantin, peptides similar to that of peptides and certain alkaloids. To be frank is uncertain that out of these which is the compound that is actually regulating sugar levels but it is for sure that a person gets a good relief.

· Indigestion – it is a good digestive agent and helps in stimulating the secretion of gastric juices. It is also helpful in stimulating liver for secretion of bile juices that are very essential for metabolism of fats. It helps in improving the peristaltic movements hence it is very helpful in avoiding gastric disturbances.

· Dyspepsia – as the karela is very helpful in maintaining the normal condition of the digestion hence it is useful in preventing condition like dyspepsia.

· Constipation – this is a condition that is affecting millions of people world wide and the main reason for this is the faulty feeding habits and unhealthy dietary practices. These all can be relived by consuming karela juice on regular bases. It not only relives from the indigestive condition but also helps in combating the constipation. It improves peristaltic movements of gastro intestinal tract and also improves the absorption in the intestines.

· Heart burn – heart burn is common among people these days. It as condition of burning sensation in the chest region. This happens because of indigestion. Due to indigestion, excess of the hydrochloric acid is produced in the body thereby leading to this burning sensation. Colloidal Silver - How Can It Help You?

Silver is one of the most universal antibiotic substances. When administered in the colloidal form, it is for all practical purposes, non-toxic. Silver has been proven to be useful against hundreds of infectious conditions. Although the exact mechanism for the proven antimicrobial effects of colloidal silver is unknown, the most accepted theory is that colloidal silver disables the specific enzyme that many forms of bacteria, viruses and fungi utilize for their metabolism.

Colloidal silver is the result of an electromagnetic process that pulls microscopic particles from a larger piece of silver into a liquid, such as water. These microscopic particles can more easily penetrate and travel throughout the body. Colloidal works as a catalyst, disabling the enzyme that all one-celled bacteria fungi and viruses use for their oxygen metabolism. In short, the bad guys suffocate. Unlike with antibiotics, resistant strains have never been known to develop. In fact, antibiotics are only effective against perhaps a dozen forms of bacteria and fungi, but never viruses. Because no known disease-causing organism can live in the presence of even minute traces of chemical element metallic silver, colloidal silver is effective against more than 650 different disease-causing pathogens.

The above discussed anti bacterial properties of colloidal silver was found by scientists in early 1900's. However, discovery of antibiotics led to almost erosion of colloidal silver. The comeback of colloidal silver in medicine began in the 1970's. The late Dr. Carl Moyer, chairman of Washington University's Department of Surgery, received a grant to develop better treatments for burn victims. Dr. Margraf, the chief biochemist, worked with Dr. Moyer and other surgeons to find an antiseptic strong enough, yet safe enough, to use over large areas of the body. As a result of their efforts, and that of other researchers, hundreds of important new medical uses for silver were found. Another fact favoring colloidal silver has been the recent revolution in the technology of colloidal silver production. It is possible now to produce far more superior silver colloids such as Sovereign Silver, at a far more reasonable cost than previously possible. This revolution in silver colloid could well see science go full circle, as antibiotics become more and more out of reach and unable to cope with the new range of super bugs such as MRSA that are sweeping the globe and eventually being replaced by their own predecessor, silver colloid.

The future of colloidal silver is bright. Hopefully with today's technological advances, we can avoid the past mistakes and benefit from its wide range of advantages to prevent and treat infectious disorders. Although reports on the use of colloidal silver have spanned the past 100 years, research relating to its recent use is limited. However, through a growing number of physicians, dentists, veterinarians, nutritionists and satisfied users, information regarding the modern day uses of colloidal silver is mounting.

One of the areas of interest has been relevance of colloidal silver in treatment of AIDS. In a groundbreaking study, the Journal of Nanotechnology has published a study that found silver nanoparticles kills HIV-1 and is likely to kill virtually any other virus. An obscure but crucial discovery was made at the Biochemistry Unit of Upjohn Laboratories in 1991. Among a number of metal ions tested, Zn2+ (zinc), Cn2+ (copper), and Ag1+ (silver) were found to be the most effective inhibitors of renin and the HIV protease. This was the first report that silver is a highly effective protease inhibitor. Over the following years, this same discovery would be made several times. A year later, this same discovery was made at the University Medical Center in Geneva, Switzerland. As per him, Metal-binding proteins are important components of retroviruses such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Therefore, metals could be used as antiviral agents. Silver is a highly active bactericidal metal with little toxicity for humans. These findings have opened an important avenue for research. A lot of research is being conducted in this direction and though a concrete result is not yet available, hopefully in near future, colloidal silver may prove to be an essential part in treatment of AIDS.

Colloidal silver will also be used extensively in skin care industry in coming years. More and more people are accepting the virtues of colloidal silver and its usefulness for healthy skin. It has opened doors for usage of colloidal silver in cosmetic products. The cosmetic industry is growing at fast pace and it is quite appropriate time for colloidal silver to be part of it. Colloidal silver has been already used as a main ingredient in soap manufacturing, which has proven to be a big success. The colloidal silver soap has proven itself in curing various skin disorders like acne, skin rashes, athlete's foot etc. It has also been found as rejuvenating to the human skin. It is also being used in lotion, shampoo etc. In coming years, it may find its usage in other household products as well.

Scientists are also experimenting about the use of colloidal silver in the field of treatment of deadly diseases like cancer etc. The way things are progressing, it can be said that the days are not far when colloidal silver may prove to be a cure for cancer too.

Overall, it seems that the effective and safe use of colloidal silver in the treatment of dozens of common infectious disorders is only limited by the imagination and creativity of those afflicted.

How to Get Rid of Acne

I suffered with acne for many years. I can honestly say that there isn't much in this world that can put off the opposite sex than a face full of zits. I had them on my back too – how sexy is that?

Then it came to my quest for self improvement getting rid of my acne was in the top ten. I lacked confidence anyway and was also very shy as a young man so my chances of getting positive attention from the opposite sex was slim anyway. And with a face full of acne my chances were almost zero.

I had some success with the opposite sex but not as much as I wanted. And so I spent a small fortune on various acne treatments. I read countless women's magazines that contained skin care articles. I went to my GP and was given antibiotics (?) which softened the harshness of my acne. I incorporated all the wives tales and other generalized advise into my daily routine such as washing hair regularly to prevent the spread of oil and avoiding all sugary foods. Some had a mild positive effect but none gave me what I wanted…

I wanted to find a method whether it be medical or otherwise that would hold my acne completely at bay.
As I grew older my acne subsided somewhat but I was still prone to the occasional outburst of facial acne. I had begun to give up and accept that acne would probably always be a part of my life.

And then I found out about a method discovered by Houa Yang. A method that was so simple yet so effective. No medicines or ointments were necessary. It was simple to implement and produced the outcome I had been searching for so long. My acne had completely disappeared.

Over a year later and I can count the amount of spots I've had on one hand.

I can't recommend Houa Yang's method highly enough if you have acne and you are looking for the best acne treatment.

Fight Acne with Vitamins and Over the Counter Products

Acne is a common skin condition that can have many forms. Generally, acne refers to the medical term Acne Vulgaris and is caused by bacteria called Propion. This is the most common form of Acne and it is an inflammatory disease, which affect the hair follicles and oil producing glands of the human skin.

Acne is nearly always the product of blood impurities. Rising hormones levels during puberty, in both male and females, and will cause your oil glands, which open into pores on the surface of your skin to expand by producing more oil called sebum. If the oil produced in those glands, 2,000 of them per square inch on your forehead alone, mixes with skin cells and bacteria just under the surface of your skin, a blackhead develops. And if the top of the oil gland isn't wide enough, a whitehead develops, builds and erupts into a pimple.

In severe acne cases, large red bumps called cysts form. The cysts can be very painful and may cause permanent scaring. These physical scars can cause extreme emotional distress that can last a lifetime through anxiety, loss of self-esteem and depression.

To avoid these emotional and physical scars, Dermatologists recommend starting treatment as soon as symptoms appear and continue appropriate treatment for as long as necessary to prevent the acne from recurring.

Acne usually appears on the face but can also appear on the neck, chest, back, shoulders and upper arms. Whey acne being in boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 11, it usually results in a very severe case of acne as a teenager.

25 percent of adult men and 50 percent of adult women suffer from occasional occurrences of acne. Acne in adults is thought to be caused by, heredity or genetic factors, vitamin deficiency, stress, poor hygiene and other factors associated with adult life styles choices.

Common Vitamins and over the counter products can help with treating acne such as Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin E, Zinc, Amino Acid, Aloe Vera, Tea Tree Oil, Beta Carotene, Benzoyl Peroxide, Resorcinol, Sulfur, and Salicylic Acid.

Vitamin A, B and E are all essential for the proper health and maintenance of the skin tissue. Vitamin A will help unplug the existing cysts and pimples allowing other topical medication to enter the follicles.

Isotretinoin, a Vitamin A derivative, is an oral drug that is usually taken once or twice a day with food for 4 to 6 months. Isotretinoin has been shown to be very effective in treating severe acne and can either improve or clear over 80% of patients studied. Isotretinoin has a much longer effect than anti-bacterial treatments and will often cure acne for good. It reduces the size of oil glands and much less oil is produced and as a result the growth of propion bacteria is reduced.

Vitamin A is stored in the fat cells of the human body and can reach toxic levels. DO NOT take more than the recommended dosage of Vitamin A.

Zinc is needed for healing and maintaining healthy tissues. Amino Acids are the building blocks of protein and are the vital components of skin, hair, muscle tissue, the body's organs, blood cells, various enzymes and hormones.

Aloe Vera will help rejuvenate and tone skin all over. A naturally cooling gel, the Aloe Vera botanical ingredients work together to stimulate the blood circulation and naturally soften the skin.

Tea Tree Oil has natural anti-inflammatory properties and helps sooth and treat problem skin. It is used to help tighten pores and firm skin for a more youthful, healthy appearance.

Symptoms of Beta Carotene deficiency include ache, dry dull hair, dry skin and thickened scaly skin on the palms and soles of the feet.

Some over the over the counter topical treatments prescribed by Dermatologists include the following.

Benzoyl peroxide which kills the Propion bacteria and may help reduce the production of excess oil.

Resorcinol, Sulfur, can help breakdown blackheads and whiteheads.

Salicylic Acid also helps breakdown blackheads and whiteheads. It also helps cut down the shedding of cells lining the hair follicles clogging the pores of the skin. Salicylic acid is used as a mild abrasive to chemically exfoliate the skin to encourage the peeling of the top layer and to prevent a build-up of dead skin cells which combine with the oil to block pores.

Always consult your doctor before using this information.

Is Revitol Right for You? - Revitol Skin Care Products Review

I am always on the lookout for new and innovative anti aging skin care products. I have personally reviewed dozens of the most sought after anti aging skin care packages in the world and recently had the chance to do a full review of the Revitol product line.

This product has become known for its top of the line image, mainly because many movie stars and wealthy people have caught on to the seeming fountain of youth Revitol appears to offer. This review is going to reveal all of the facts you need to know to make the most informed buying decision for your anti aging skin care package. Let's take a look at what makes Revitol special in today's market.

The Revitol anti aging skin care solution consists of three parts. The anti aging wrinkle complex treatment, the skin care hydration treatment serum, and moisturizing skin treatment cream. You have the choice of buying any one of the stated products or buying them as a skin care kit for a reduced price. Each bottle of product lasts for a full month. This makes the cost per day quite reasonable.

Now let's take a look at what advantages Revitol offers over its competitors. I was quite impressed when I viewed the ingredients list of Revitol products. I found it to be high in potent antioxidants, vitamins, skin tighteners and essential oils -- all of which have been proven to greatly improve the health of the skin and reduce the effects of aging.

  • VITAMIN E- Potent antioxidant, protects skin from harmful free radicals, soothes and softens skin.

  • VITAMIN A- Firms skin, renews collagen and elastin, smoothes out pigmentation removing age spots.

  • SQUALENE- Protects skin from free radical damage, slows aging process by shielding skin from harmful toxins.

  • SHEA BUTTER- Long known for its amazing moisturizing and regenerative capabilities, contains fatty acids which prevent drying, cracking, and burning of skin.

  • IDEBENONE- Proven antioxidant which has been proven to slow the aging of skin and protect entire body from a variety of inflammatory diseases.

  • HYDROLYZED WHEAT GLUTEN and CAROB- This blend has been shown to have a very synergistic effect when used in combination. First penetrates deeply into skin and then tightens skin. Great for relieving wrinkles.

  • HYALURONIC ACID- Important component found in high concentration within healthy skin, most people suffer from low levels of this critical acid. Acts to lubricate the three layers of skin thereby reducing inflammation and wrinkling.

  • EVENING PRIMROSE OIL- anti inflammatory, improves texture of skin, prevents wrinkles, relaxes skin, improves cell membranes.

  • EDELWEIS EXTRACT- Prevents ultra violet damage, antioxidant protects against toxins and other pollutants, slows skin aging.

  • DMAE- Helps heal acne scars, improves skin tone and firmness, DMAE levels are high in young skin and low in older skin, replenishes supply thereby removing years of aging.

  • ARGIRELINE- Made from naturally occurring amino acids, relaxes facial muscles by regulating release of neurotransmitters responsible for muscle tension. This relaxing removes facial wrinkles because the muscles stop pulling on the skin.

  • DERMOX- restores surface of skin, increases synthesis of collagen.

Obviously, Revitol offers quite a robust ingredient package. It is rare to find such a complete and high quality combination of high-end components brought together into one package.

But let's look at what really counts: Results. Does Revitol's exotic ingredient package give it what is necessary for real results? My answer is a definite yes. I have been very impressed by the results I have noted from Revitol's three part product line. Each individual product offers unique benefits, and in combination they are quite amazing at reducing the effects of aging.

This product has proven itself to be a real winner in my eyes. I have never tested anything that offers such noticeable results in such a quick amount of time. You can literally notice a difference on the very first day. By day six, lots of people start commenting on the improvement and asking you for your secret. It really is that powerful. I feel fortunate to have found Revitol's anti aging skin care products. I have not found anything on the market that even comes close to Revitol in my opinion.

I feel that anybody who uses Revitol consistently can easily shave ten or fifteen years off their appearance with great ease. You don't need a face lift or harsh acid peel to look your best. Give your skin what it needs to heal itself. Revitol's skin care line does exactly that. I would recommend these products to anyone. Especially the package that includes all three components necessary for optimal results.

Check out Revitol's site below and try any of their products totally risk free for 90 days. Their motto is, if you're not thrilled with the results we don't want your money. I would have to guess that they get no returns whatsoever. Try it for yourself and you be the judge.

Why Men Are Now Using Makeup

Back when I was in my teens and early twenties, I didn't care at all about my appearance. I did take a daily shower, but after that and a quick combing of the hair and brushing of the teeth, I was done. If my memory serves me, I was far from alone in my disregard for the trappings of male beauty.

However, over the course of the last 30 years there has been a very clear increase in the level of male vanity evidenced by men in our society. To date it has focused largely on hair care (both styling and grooming products), toiletries and colognes, moisturizers to block the effects of sun exposure, and to a lesser degree, adornments such as earrings and tattoos. And in recent years we have also witnessed the rise of the so-called metrosexual.

But lately something new has cleared the men's fashion horizon. More and more men are not just finishing their morning shave and heading off to work, but are adding a new component to their daily regime - makeup.

Yes, there is no doubt about it, male vanity is on the rise. Notwithstanding that the devil-may-care attitude towards beautifying ourselves is still the prevailing view, an ever-increasing number of modern men are applying makeup to their formerly innocent faces.

Their reasons for doing so are, I think, largely the same as those of women, except that for the latter, there exists a cultural norm for beautifying themselves. It is a little difficult to be sure though, as most men who use makeup are very reluctant to talk about it, especially with their male friends. But it would seem self-evident that they have taken to using cosmetics in order to mask facial imperfections, hide signs of aging skin and generally to become more appealing to the opposite sex.

A typical male user of makeup might apply an exfoliating facial scrub; followed by an eye gel to mask any dark circles around his eyes; and complete the daily routine with a light powdering to reduce the shininess of his face. Foundations and concealers might also enter the picture. Men report that the response from women justifies their daily ritual.

More and more specialty shops are opening, both in the nation's malls and online, to take advantage of this growing market. As there is still a bit of a stigma out there about men buying products to improve their attractiveness, my guess is that the online market might be a more comfortable buying environment for many men, especially those Marlboro men amongst us. And while I'm in a guessing mood, I bet many men wouldn't have the slightest idea how to apply makeup products to their face, so that might incline one to make his purchases from an actual retail store, where advice on application can be had.

I think that, like other social phenomena, as men using makeup gets more exposure in the media, the macho hurdles and impediments will start to crumble and it will become, if not the norm, certainly an acceptable practice for men to apply makeup. It really isn't much of a leap from men with blow dryers for their hair, to men with makeup kits. And if, as is commonly reported, it makes the man feel more self-confident and heightens his attractiveness to women, there really is no reason to expect that men with makeup is a fad that will pass with time.

Acne Skin Care Product Guide - Making the Most of Your Acne Products

Prior to deciding on any particular acne skin care product, it's extremely vital to understand that each person's skin type and condition is different, and thus, there exists not one acne skin care product that appropriate for everyone. So, it's very important to select the right kind of acne skin care products that will work best for you. In most cases, acne products are intended to be used for a long period in order to have the required time frame to work in treating your acne skin condition; so do not expect to see sudden results in only days or weeks.

Here are some tips to follow which will assist you in making the most of your acne skin care products:

Water

Drink plenty of water; at least 8 glasses of water a day is highly recommended.

Washing

On a daily basis wash your face in order to keep it clean. But do not go overboard by washing your face too often; once or twice daily is fine.

Stress

Try to relax during highly stressful times. Studies have proven that stress in fact can cause acne to break out. So take reasonable steps to relieve yourself of excessive stress by walking, reading, breathing deeply, etc.

Hair

If you have long hair, try to keep it away from your face. Oily hair can actually worsen your acne.

Sleep

Getting plenty of sleep is extremely essential to keep any acne condition at bay. When your body is well rested it has a lesser probability of suffering from an acne condition.

Instructions

Always follow the printed instructions on the label of any acne skin care product. Never use more than it's instructed by rationalizing that more is better; often the opposite end result will occur.

Adult Acne & Spots – What Is The Cause Of Adult Acne And How Do I Get Rid Of It Fast

When you reach your twenties and thirties you just don't expect to see spots and pimples erupting on your face/body. But when they do making sure that you know why and how to deal with them can be the difference between getting rid of them quick and spending years fighting to get rid of them again.

For many, you may have spent your teenage years fighting the battle against spots and acne only to find that it's back with a vengeance now you are a full grown adult. Perhaps you have never got rid of them at all since teenage years. Either way, the treatment is the same.

Let's begin with the causes of spots and acne. Each hair follicle has a gland in it which releases sebum, this is to coat the hair in a waterproof coating. Sometimes the glands can become overactive (hormones can cause this) and produce excessive amounts. When this happens the pore will become clogged with sebum.

When we add in some dead skin cells, which occur naturally on everyone, then throw in some bacteria, again found naturally on all of us. We have excellent conditions for spots and pimples.

Many people will first think that to get rid of dead skin cells that you need to scrub the face. This will remove much of the dead skin, it will also cause the pore to swell which will let in further amounts of bacteria and make it ripe for infection.

An important thing to remember is this. Do not over wash, you need the sebum and naturally released oils to keep skin healthy. Over washing will take away too much oil and can leave you in just as bad shape.

Another point to remember, it is important that you drink enough water. About 2 liters per day is great. Water is a fantastic natural detox for your body and will help flush through toxins out of your system.

I strongly suggest natural remedies before taking drug treatments for your acne or spots. Trying to fight the natural way will be much less stressful rather than having to worry about nasty side effects that the drug treatment will give you.

Using of Oils for Face Massage

It can be quite stressful to make the necessary preparation for the big day. There are so many things that can possibly go wrong. You might find yourself finding a few wrinkles or pimples prior to the big day. This is definitely something which you do not want to see.

You have gone for a facial treatment 2 weeks prior to the wedding and as you do not want to stress your skin further, you decide that you should try to maintain yourself. What are the ways you can do that without stressing your skin?

One way is to make use of oil in face massage. There are 2 types of oils, mainly mineral and vegetable oil. Mineral oils are not recommended as they do not penetrate the dermis; they mainly form a plastic film on the surface and block the pores. They do not contain any beneficial nutrients for the skin. The reason for their popularity is that they usually do not cause allergic reactions and are cheap to produce. Vegetable oils contain nutrients but do get those which are cold-pressed from health shops. They contain fatty acids and fats soluble vitamins. However their absorption by the skin can be a bit slow.

Different types of vegetable oils suits different skin types. If your skin is much drier, you may find it more beneficial to use a vegetable oil that has more fatty acids.

How do you then determine your skin type? Avoid using any skincare products for a week and you would be able to see your true skin type.

Normal Skin - You can try using olive oil, sunflower oil or almond oil.

Drying or Aging Skin - You can try avocado oil, macadamia oil or wheatgerm oil.

Oily Skin - You can use hazelnut oil which can help to normalize the skin and regulate sebum production.

Another alternative to vegetable oil is essential oil which contains tiny molecules that can easily penetrate the dermis. This type of oils is well known for their therapeutic abilities. One important note is that they oxidize easily and it is best to store them in dark cool places. E.g. you can use lavender to help curb inflammation and reduce sensitivity.

The best use of the oils is to combine with a light face massage. Pour less than a teaspoon of the oil on your hand and spread evenly on your face. Spread a thin layer around your eyes. Do a simple massage with some pressures on certain points. This would help to ensure that the oils are absorb by the skin and achieving the radiant look and glow.
